This game is one of the reasons that I had to eat my words as I had previously stated that my desktop would be a workstation and not a gaming rig. Well, it's still fleshing its way out to a workstation but, it has definitely found itself, like Arkham Asylum, being taken over by the exploits of the Joker.
This game was hypnotic to say the least with some of the most accurate and stunning graphics and effects that have ever tried to define the Batman action gaming brand.
Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) voices over the infamous "Clown Prince of Crime" in spectacle -- he is incredible. The story line is above par but the one liners and witicisms flawlessly bring a new life into the obvious plot. To this end it really becomes evident that the story really centers itself around the psychy of the entire cast of characters outside of Batman/Bruce Wayne. Some of the most awe inspiring events involve Batman's interaction with the Scare Crow -- I was really blown away the first time I encountered a full on Scare Crow scenario.
This game brings an old movie to mind -- Apocolypse Now; some parts of the game are extremely disturbing and is definitely not recommended for anyone under 16 if not 18 in my opinion.
Batman's along with Gordon's voice overs are among the best really fleshing the deal out to a level of acceptance that would have broke the game in lue.
In addition to the spectacular main title you will also get unlockables of all sorts in: bios, 3D models of characters, etc. for viewing, and my favorite -- unlockable challenges that you can play as often as you like and if good enough will get rankings posted on web based player boards. Some of the challenges are just straight up addiction candy as you'll forget all about the main game while trying to master a flawless combo for HUGE points.
This game has definitely got a storyline, hidden searchables, mini missions, and everything else a serious platform gamer expects from a title of this nature. It provides and then some.
If you're into Batman you are into this.
If you aren't into Batman you could easily find yourself wondering why if you mess with this one.
This game puts its meat hooks into you deeply without hesitation or any mercy.

It's a good, well made game, but it's a bit repetitive. I think people are so happy to have a decent batman game that they're going overboard in their praise for this.

I got this for my grandson, who is nuts over games to play on the computer. He really likes the action, the characters and really, everything about it. It was a Great thing to buy for him!

I have been waiting for a batman game as good as this. No other game that features the Caped Crusader comes close. You are the Dark Knight and you have his useful gadgets. The replay value on this is pretty good. the thugs react differently when they see you and they react to their enviroment if they notice someone is missing. I hope they make a part 2 or a sequel to the game.

So, I like Batman. Especially the dark night. I like kicking the snot of bad guys. The trouble is that some of the Sandman levels timing are vexingly close, and the Killer Croc level was infuriatingly difficult, especially escaping again. The lack of a map make it hard to get out especially after Croc starts destroying the floating platforms. I got stuck on this level and could not move forward.
